Annual FOL Board Meeting 2020

Because of the COVID 19 pandemic and requirements of social distancing and not holding large group events, the Friends Board is not able to have the FOL Annual Meeting this month.  The meeting is an opportunity for the FOL Board to update the Friends membership on the happenings of the year and to hold election of several open officer positions on the Board.

This email (which was sent to every member for whom an email address was available) is to replace the Annual Meeting.

Happenings of the Year:  The FOL has had another successful year.  Our membership of 200+ members actively supported the numerous Book Sales and special Friends Programs.  The Book Sale Room was moved to a new spacious room adjacent to the check-out area.  The book sales and income derived from the sale of historic Ormond photos and commemorative shelf plates have made it possible for the Friends to purchase thousands of dollars of items for the OB library.  Some of these items include sensory learning wall plaques, working stations and rugs for the Children's Department; sewing machines and equipment for the MakerLab; twenty-three chairs for Meeting Room 3.  Of course, the biggest gift we purchase are books for circulation and on-line book services.

Open positions are for President, Vice-President, Assistant Treasurer, and Recording Secretary.

President:  Patsy Franklin
Patsy is a native Floridian with a lifetime love of books.  She began her volunteer work at the library after retiring, and for the past three years she’s been the recording secretary for the FOL Board.  Now as president she’s excited to work with our FOL to enhance the services of the library.

Vice President:  Jane Finchum
Jane has been on the FOL Board for over ten years, and for the last four serving as president.  She also serves as a weekly volunteer in the Friends Book Sale Room.  She is an advocate and strong supporter of the library and the Friends efforts.

Shirley loves meeting and working with people.  Whenever able, she’s volunteered both in churches and in the community.  She currently volunteers in the Book Sale Room and its workroom.  This will be her second term as assistant treasurer.

Recording Secretary:  Melissa White
Melissa is a retired educator with two children and four grandchildren. She  enjoys playing golf, and  volunteers for several groups.  Within FOL she takes charge of the paperback section of the library.  Did we mention that she loves her annual family trip to Disney World?

If there are no additional nominees presented by May 27, the slate will be viewed as accepted by the membership.  (There were none.)
